DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:

See-Sang Karn Yotah (1979) Co., Ltd has awarded contract to carried out the ductbank utility tunnel using cut-cover and pipe jacking technique. Due to tunnel location adjacent to the existing MRT tunnel and station, safety and movement of MRT tunnel and adjacent structure are therefore a major concern and required carefully monitoring. Geotechnical instrumentations were installed and monitored the ground movement both of during construction and long term period.

.

SCOPE OF SERVICES:

  • Supplied and installed the following instruments: - Inclinometer to monitor magnitude and rate of ground movement in lateral direction

- Pneumatic Piezometer to assess the insitu pore pressure distribution

- Multiple Borehole Extensometer (MPBX) to monitor vertical settlement in various depth.

- Surface settlement plate to monitor surface settlement

  • Monitoring work and interpretation report

  • Impact assessment due to construction work

KEY FACTORS:

  • The data is used to verify the design assumptions and to check that performance is as predicted

  • The monitoring results are assessed how the construction can proceed without risk of failure and perform proper function in long term period.

  • The monitoring results provide the early warning of impending and/or critical failure,
