RAW WATER TUNNEL FOR KROM KHLONG PRAPA ROAD PROJECT
LOCATION: Bangkok, Thailand CLIENT: Department of Highways PERIOD OF SERVICES : June 2005– October 2006 CONSTRUCTION COST: 9,500 MB FINANCED BY: - ASSOCIATED FIRMS: Halcrow-PDI, AEC and TEC DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT: Klong Prapa is generally a canal utilized for supplying raw water. Krom Klong Prapa Road, a royal contemplate project, was originated to improve raw water supplying as well as to serve extension of city civilization and also traffic congestion problem in urban area. The project mainly aims to protect raw water quality during transmission from Chaopraya river to treatment plant inside the Bangkok town area having pollution. It is decided to permanently divert raw water in open channel to closed system such as tunnel system. Big volume of water such as 72 m3/s and 12 m3/s will be transmitted by dual tunnel sizing 7.2 m ID and 3.2 m ID tunnel, respectively. Total length of tunnel will be about 24 kilometers. |
