DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:

Flood in Chao Phraya river basin has occurred several times in the past years. Partly attributed to an increase in rainfall in the Chao Phraya river basin, which has a plenty of water flow in a short time and continuously. The drainage capacity of the Chao Phraya river and other rivers cannot handle such surplus water and cannot drain the large amount of water flow that occurs in the upper of Chao Phraya river basin into the lower basin of the river through the Gulf of Thailand immediately.

Thus, Royal Irrigation Department needs to design Bang Bal – Bang Sai flood diversion channel to alleviate flooding and to manage water flow in the Chao Phraya basin.
